Abstract The purpose of this Act is to promote the use of sources of renewable energy as energy sources for electricity by taking special measures in respect of price, time frame, etc. with regard to the procurement of electricity from sources of renewable energy by electricity utilities, taking into consideration that the use of sources of renewable energy as energy sources is important in securing a stable and appropriate supply of energy appropriate for the economic and social environment in Japan and abroad and in reducing the burden on the environment arising from energy supply, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the international competitiveness of Japan and the sound development of the national economy, including the promotion of Japanese industry and the revitalization of local communities.
