Its main provisions concern registration of seed trade activity with the State Seed Testing Station (para. 3); retail sale permits released by the National Board of Agriculture (NBA) (para. 4); quarantine and marking of imported seed (para. 6); seed trade restrictions conditions (para. 7); classification of plant species and varieties, appointment of a Plant Varieties Committee (para. 8); seed quality requirements to be set by the NBA (para. 10); labelling requirements (para. 11); monitoring compliance with the Act and its regulations, including the prohibition for control authorities to divulge professional secrets (para. 14); liabilities of seed processors, packers and sellers (para. 16); repeal of Act No. 148 of 9 April 1937 on imports and sales of seed and relative regulations and orders.
