Abstract The aim of this Act is to enhance safety at sea and the prevention of marine pollution. This Act regulates provisions concerning marine safety relating to the construction of vessels, their equipment, inspection of vessels, qualifications of crew, safety of navigation and saving life at sea. These provisions apply to Polish vessels and foreign vessels located on Polish internal waters, Polish territorial sea or Polish maritime zone. The Act is composed of the following Sections: General provisions (sect. 1); Construction of vessels and their equipment (sect. 2); Inspection of vessels (sect. 3); Crew (sect. 4); Safety of navigation (sect. 5); Saving life at sea (sect. 6); Penalties (sect. 7); Changes in valid provisions, transitional and final provisions (sect. 8).
