Entry into force notes

For farms established prior to 1 July 2010 entry into force shall fall on 1 July 2014. The Act shall not apply until 1 July 2022 to buildings where animals are tethered (stanchion barns), which entered into service prior to 1 July 2010.

Abstract

This Act applies to the keeping of milk/dairy producing cattle setting regulations on their health. The Order aheres to EU directives. Electric devices to control movement of cattle is not permitted, regular hygiene cleaning procedures for farms must take place, as well as pertinent equipment for cooling/airing/lighting/noise to observe protection of animals' well-being. Cows may not be tied.
