Abstract This Act lays down rules for the effective implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. This Act shall apply to all animal and plant species listed in the Second and Third Schedules. This Act sets forth provisions on the establishment, administration, duties and powers of the Management Authority and the Scientific Authority; importation, exportation or re-exportation of species in compliance with the Convention, Animals (Disease and Importation) Act, Plant, Pest and Disease (Eradication) Act, Plant, Pest and Disease (Import Control) Act, Fisheries Act, Wild Birds Protection Act, and Coastal Zone Management Act; procedures and principles for certification to trade in endangered species; designation of inspectors by the Minister and their duties and powers; and offences and penalties.
