This Act enters into force on 18 September 2019.
Abstract

This Act, which is composed of 15 articles, lays down principles of food management and obligations of food sellers in order to counteract food waste and adverse social, environmental and economic effects resulting from food waste. The food seller is obliged to conclude a contract with a non-governmental organization regarding the free transfer of food which meets requirements of food law, and is not intended for sale, in particular due to defects of food or packaging, with the exception of alcoholic beverages containing alcohol above 1.2% and alcoholic beverages which are a mixture of beer and non-alcoholic beverages in which alcohol exceeds 0.5%. The food seller is also obliged to conduct the educational and information training regarding rational food management and counteracting food waste at least once a year for at least two consecutive weeks.
