Abstract

This law ratifies the amendments laid down to the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material of 1980. These amendments were adopted at Vienna on 2005 to strengthen the provisions of the Convention. The amended Convention makes it legally binding for States Parties to protect nuclear facilities and material in peaceful domestic use, storage as well as transport. This national law establishes the obligations and duties of any person holding nuclear facilities and installations. The Italian Criminal Code is updated as regards related offences.
