Abstract The objective of the present Act is to stipulate the right to fish in freshwater and the rational, economical and sustainable use of fish stocks in freshwater and their protection. It applies to all fishing from freshwater fish stocks in Icelandic territory. The Act contains 57 articles divided into the following chapters: I. Objetives and scope; II. About fishing rights; III.
