Abstract

This Act grants powers to the Authority for Food and Consumer Goods to carry out, in a neutral and independent manner, analysis and assessment of consumer goods including food. This analysis is done in addition to other scientific research in order to create a major safeguard for public health. The Act creates procedural guarantees for an independent and sound analysis and assessment of the risks that placing on the market of food and other consumer goods can pose to the health of consumers and public health in general.
