Abstract This law sets out measures to protect and improve biodiversity for food and agriculture. The aim is to protect local genetic resources under threat of extinction or genetic erosion. It establishes the National System for the Protection and Promotion of Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture, which includes: a) National Register on Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture; b) National Database on Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture; c) Committee on Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture.
