Abstract The present Act contains 23 articles and establishes the plant-based foods special fund, which will function as a subsidy scheme within the public administration. The objective of the fund is to contribute to the development of the plant-based food sector, and will provide grants for knowledge transfer, consultancy, research and development, cultivation and processing, and for promotion measures for plant-based foods, quality schemes, etc. For the purposes if this Act, plant-based foods are understood to mean all foods that are made from plants as well as edible fungi, algae and microorganisms, including both unprocessed and processed raw materials and ingredients, including in combination with enzymes and other non-animal ingredients that are suitable for food production.
