Abstract This law promotes social agriculture with a view to contributing to the development of local communities, giving special attention to rural areas and less-favoured areas. Social agriculture includes all agricultural activities carried out by cooperatives and farmers as per article 2135 of the Civil Code. Farmers engaged in social agriculture may create producers’ organizations pursuant to Legislative Decree No. 102 of 27 May 2005. An Observatory on Social Agriculture is established under article 7.
