Furthermore, the aim of the Act is to ensure the safety and wholesomeness of foods from animal products in Iceland and to strengthen the fight against the resistance of infectious agents. The Act does not apply to compound feedingstuffs or to clinical trials on animals carried out for purposes other than the issue or maintenance of a marketing authorization. Regulation (EU) 2019/6 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2018 on veterinary medicinal products is made mandatory in Iceland.
