Abstract This Act, which is composed of 19 articles, lays down: (a) rights and obligations of operators who place timber and timber products on the internal market; (b rights and obligations of traders; (c) rights and obligations of transporters of timber and timber products; (d) duties of the monitoring organization; (e) the competence of the state administration bodies in the field of timber and timber products on the internal market; (f) offenses concerning placing timber and timber products on the internal market. The aim is to support the fight against illegal logging and related trade. As a general rule, the placing on the market of illegally harvested timber or products derived from such timber shall be prohibited.
