The law has 7 sections, divided into section 1 tasks and powers, section 2 orders and remedial action, section 3 empowerment to issue statutory instruments, section 4 regulations on administrative fines, section 5 confiscation, section 6 competences and section 7 expenditures. The act serves to implement Germany’s state obligations under the Nagoya protocol, as Germany is a binding party, as well as transpose the European Union Regulation into its national legal system.
