Abstract

The purpose of the present Act is to transpose the European Union: Directive 2008/99/EC of 19 November 2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of the environment through criminal law into German legislation. In particular, the Act introduces some substantial amendments to the Waste Disposal Act of 19 July 2007. Inter alia, the following articles are added : Penalties in case of disposal of hazardous waste (18a); Penalties in case of disposal non-harzardous waste (18b); Reference to Directives and Regulations of the European Union (18d); also an Annex concerning European directives is added. The text consists of 4 articles.
