Abstract

This Act amends the Suriname National Bureau of Standards Act by changing the name of the Bureau into "Surinaams Standaarden Bureau" (according to ISO standards) and by assigning to the Bureau the function of the WTO/TBT (“Technical Barriers to Trade”) National Enquiry Point. The Act specifies functions of SBS as the TBT Agreement National Enquiry Point. The TBT agreement requires a National Enquiry Point to provide information about national standards, technical regulations, prescribed assessment requirements (testing, inspection, certification and accreditation), and regulations relates to standards.
