Abstract This Act lays down some amendments and addenda to the Act on the promotion of renewable energy sources and high efficiency cogeneration. In particular, the present Act lays down provisions concerning marketing of biofuels and bioliquids (supplemented art. 14c). A legal entity or natural person who places biofuels or bioliquids on the market in the Slovak Republic is obliged to: (a) issue a certificate of origin of biofuel or bioliquids; (b) ensure that the certificate of origin of a biofuel or bioliquid is verified by a qualified person; (c) send a copy of the certificate of origin of biofuel or bioliquids to the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute; (d) use the mass balance system for biofuels and bioliquids when demonstrating compliance with the sustainability criteria. Furthermore, the Act regulates provisions concerning advanced biofules. Advanced biofuels are biofuels made from raw materials or fuels listed in Annex 1a.
