Abstract The Act, which is composed of six articles, establishes new definitions of terms used in the Act on genetically modified organisms and the Act on sanitary conditions of food and nutrition. The organism is defined as each biological, cellular or not cellular unit, able to replicate and to transmit genetic material, including viruses and viroids. The Minister of the Environment shall be in charge of drawing up the project of the National strategy of Biological Safety and Activities, to be approved by the Council of Ministers.
