Where the Minister is of the opinion that it is necessary to acquire any land in the public interest and that there is reasonable justification for causing any hardship to any person who has an interest in the land, the Minister may acquire that land in accordance with this Act. The Act sets out the procedures for acquisition by agreement. Where the Minister fails to enter into an agreement for the acquisition of any land, the Minister may, by Notice in the Gazette, declare that the land is acquired for the purpose specified in the notice of intended acquisition in relation to that land.
