Abstract

This Subpart of Part 665 of Title 50 of the Federal Code of Regulations concerns fishing in the American Samoa fishery management area, i.e. the EEZ seaward of the Territory of American Samoa. The Regulations prohibit fishing in all no-take Marine Protected Areas. Regulations concern management measures for specified bottomfish, such as gear restrictions and at-sea observer coverage. They also concern Samoa coral reef ecosystem fisheries (including fishing for specified shark species) and designate a management area for a specific management regime for such fisheries. Management measures include restrictions of use of gear, compliance with the Fishery Ecosystem Plan (FEP) and related permitting. Other matters of these Regulations include management of crustacean fishery and precious coral fisheries.
