Abstract

This Part of Title 50 lays down regulations regarding the opening of wildlife refuge areas to hunting and fishing; requirements for hunting and sport fishing on areas of the National Wildlife Refuge System; procedures for publication of refuge-specific hunting and sport fishing regulations; areas closed to hunting; and refuge-specific regulations for hunting and fishing. The opening of a wildlife refuge area to hunting will be dependent upon the provisions of law applicable to the area and upon a determination by the Secretary that the opening of the area to the hunting of migratory game birds, upland game, or big game will be compatible with the principles of sound wildlife management and will otherwise be in the public interest. Refuge-specific hunting regulations may contain the following items: (I) wildlife species that may be hunted; (II) seasons; (III) bag limits; (IV) methods of hunting; (V) description of areas open to hunting; or (VI) other provisions as required. This Part requires each person while engaged in public sport fishing on a wildlife refuge area to hold a State license and to comply with the terms and conditions authorizing access and use of the wildlife refuge area.
