Abstract

Decision directed to Parties

Kazakhstan and other saiga range States should: a) evaluate the impact of the trade on the wild saiga population following the change in annotation at CoP20 and report to CoP21; b) report on the effectiveness of the established monitoring and reporting system for saiga horn trade at the 82nd meeting of the Standing Committee (SC82); c) report on how revenue from legal trade in saiga horns is utilized and contributes to saiga conservation and benefits relevant local communities at SC82; and d) conduct regular monitoring of wild saiga populations and report information and development on the population status to the Secretariat for consideration by the Animals Committee at its 34th and 35th meetings.
