Clearing-house mechanism

Invites Parties as well as relevant intergovernmental organizations, multilateral environmental agreements and non-governmental organizations to support and collaborate with the Secretariat in developing a programme for it to serve as the clearinghouse mechanism for information on persistent organic pollutants as envisaged in paragraph 4 of Article 9 of the Convention;
Notes that the elements of information outlined in chapter II of the note by the Secretariat on the clearinghouse mechanism fall within the scope of the clearinghouse mechanism;
Approves the pilotphase informationexchange activities referred to in paragraphs 13 and 14 of that note;
Invites Parties and other interested stakeholders to provide the Secretariat, by 31 October 2006, with comments on the draft prepared by the Secretariat of a strategic plan for establishing procedures for the clearinghouse mechanism and on their information exchange needs and priorities for 2008–2011;
Requests the Secretariat to prepare, taking into account comments received, a revised draft strategic plan for consideration by the Conference of the Parties at its third meeting.
