Abstract

One power plant of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, located in Maemoh, used lignite coal to generate electricity. The authority failed to control the emission of sulfur dioxide from the production process in accordance to the legal standards, leading to health problems of local people. The court found the act of negligence a wrongful act and pronounce compensation for physical and emotional suffering of each plaintiff from 10,000 up to 200,000 THB.
